To say, that after an exceptional movie like ‘Queen’, audience was all ready to take in what Vikal Bahl had to offer next, would not be an understatement. You had this adorable new on-screen couple in a movie to be directed by Vikas Bahl of the ‘Queen’ fame and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Dharma Productions. The pre-release buzz for the movie was phenomenal. Shaandaar is the perfect example of a movie which with no storyline but all possible glitter still manages to shake the box-office in today’s emerging age of content-based cinema. Yet the box-office potential already looks quite favorable with the numbers of the 1 st day collection coming in as 13.1 crore. There is nothing Shaandaar about this film and it only makes the audience ask over and over again why it was made in the first place. Bankable stars like Alia Bhatt & Shahid Kapoor, film positioning around the unusual yet attractive theme of ‘destination wedding’, catchy music and finally, the rigorous promotional activities surrounding all these 3 elements has managed to get the audience to the theaters for a movie like Shaandaar.
